Congo's cannibal militia or Norway?

The choice might seem simple. Check this Wired map that compares 200 countries on their political systems, resources, levels of crime, corruption, and civil unrest.
Interesting things u should look at:

  • In the middle east: Israel and Palestinian difference in colors
  • Norways score of 100!
  • Congo's corrupt government
  • All the developed countries are yellow

please post comments if you like what you see or think they miscolored the map.

  • Let's replace with synonyms a few words from the maps' accompanying text:
"... they also have to hire gunmen to keep them open because there's no force of hired gunmen."

With logic like that, you can prove anything!

  • please explain you comment. You say that these poor countries have no force of hired gunmen?

  • The original text says: "Sure, Somalis can open factories without appeasin safety inspectors; they also have to hire gunmen to keep them open because there's no effective police force."
My question is: what is a police force, other than hired gunmen? And why is this Somalian solution (which is basically a private police force) any worse than the alternative?

  • u might be right, if the police force is controlled by greed, and few people. for a police force to be successful it has to be controlled by the majority of people - represented by a just government. Like we have in Canada or in the US.
Exclude the few to none corrupt cops we have here.

  • Those non-corrupt cops are still evil, for they enforce evil laws! I say boo to your government! Anarchy rules!

  • point form response is coming (in case your last comment was serious)

they are talking in the article about "effective police force" what do you think that is?

evil and good is relative positive and negative is more apropriate.

boo to what government? mine? Canada's? Congos? All of them?

And anarchy has been proven not to work... There are no rules, it has no ruling system, it is every man for himself. Unless you impose anarchy by force... and then you are lying to yourself because you have a dictatorship.

  • Anarchy is simple and beautiful. The only problem with it is its absence.
Anarchy simply means personal liberty. This concept may be too simple for most to comprehend, but I assure you, it is the most natural, and morally right, state of society.
